Looking for home made cat food recipes for a normal cat?

With all this pet food recall scary news I would like to start to feed my cats with a healthy home made diet. Does anyone have some good recipes which can be fed long term without running the risk of mineral/vitamin deficiencies or overdosing?

Yes! Do I ever!

And good for you for considering this. I wish you luck in getting your cats converted.

I've been researching this issue myself but haven't yet decided on the right course of action. I've been dithering between trying to feed whole prey or doing the grinding myself, or purchasing pre-ground meats from speciality pet stores online, which supplements to use, etc.

If you're interested in seeing the document I created with all my notes, please email me. I don't want to post it here because it's like 3 pages long! But it includes all the resources and tips I've been gathering, including the Yahoo groups on raw feeding that I belong to. So let me know if you want to see that.

In addition to the recipes in the links below, there are several other options - other recipes that you make yourself; you can buy pre-ground meat at some pet stores or online; there are supplements you can buy so you don't have to invest in all the individual ingredients; and the list goes on!

It will be hard to provide just the right nutrition for your cat with a homemade food. Only the wet foods have been recalled, any kibble you have is fine. As for wet food switch to fancy feast. that is the brand my vet reccomended to me.

here's a couple of places that have them

Good Luck

My cat loves butter. I give him half a stick a day. That and canned sardines.
